GIF.ag is a team of six festival grant recipients reporting live from the International Summerfestival 2016 at Kampnagel. To fit the theme of art and digital activism of this year’s Festival, the participants share all of their impressions through the animated GIF.

The headquarters of GIF.ag are to be found in the form of a conference room in the Kampnagel lobby consisting of an installation by three students at Hamburg’s HAW. It is screened by a large façade that becomes as a projection space for the GIF collection – an animated picture gallery that can be visited both on-site and online.

For the fifth time, the Summerfestival is giving out grants in cooperation with the Körber-Foundation to young people pursuing degrees in Art, Culture and Theatre studies. Alongside the performances, they get the chance to attend artist talks, workshops and rehearsals, thus learning how the International Summerfestival comes together.

Focusing on ›Digital Empowerment and Artistic Strategies‹, this year’s International Summerfestival in cooperation with the Körber-Foundation puts emancipatory potentials but also political dilemmas on the agenda.

The International Summerfestival takes place from 10th to 28th of August 2016 at Kampnagel in Hamburg, Germany.
